Componist Stephen Wiley

Born in Norwich, Stephen recently graduated with a degree in Music Composition from Birmingham Conservatoire with a First Class Honours. He is now studying towards a masters at Birmingham Conservatoire with the kind support from the Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust and Birmingham Conservatoire, studying under Ed Bennett, Richard Causton, Michael Wolters and Joe Cutler. He has also benefited from masterclasses/workshops with many composers including Louis Andriessen, Howard Skempton, Colin Matthews and John Woolrich.

From an early age Stephen studied various instruments such as Guitar, Clarinet, Drums and Piano and played in a number of bands. In 2009 he won the Phillip Bates Contemporary Songwriting Competition Audience Prize. Also the co-founder of Thumb’. (www.thisisthumb.co.uk).

Stephen is also an active Theatre composers having had the pleasure of working with The Rep Theatre Birmingham, The Old Rep, Friction Theatre Company and The Nuffield Theatre, Southampton alongside directors Tim Ford, Kerry Murdock and William Bowry.
